My indoor-only neutered male escaped through a loose screen on Sunday, October 26. We have placed hundreds of flyers in individual mailboxes on two different occaisions (a reminder flyer sent out yesterday). There are posters in local stores and at the vets. I have been visiting the pound every two or three days. In addition to multiple daily footsearches, we had a search dog assist this past Wednesday. The handler called the dog off when she found the scent, which was in a place consistent with other clues. We have two human traps, one near the window at which he escaped, and the other in the woods close to where the search dog caught the scent. Yesterday, a lady called to let me know that she had heard an upset kitty in her yard during the rain a day earlier, but she ignored it because she thought Honey would be home by now. She only calle me because she had just received the second flyer. My Mom and I worked the forested area between where the search dog indicated Honey had been, and this lady's yard. It really seems like he's moving further and further away. He'll soon have to cross a major road. There are so many decks and bushes and hollowed out trees... I am overwhelmed with possibilities. I could use help deciding where to place traps. We set up two differet "kitty buffets" this morning in hopes to see activity. The unfortunate thing is that my neighborhood is surrounded by woods. That's where I think he is. It is going to freeze tonight. Please help... I am so very sad, and feel like I am not doing enough, even though most of my energy is going to his search.
